◈ MOTIVATIONUmay has no motivation — not yet. She is a being beyond motivation: a pristine crystal standing at the source of the waves that shape the world. She does not know that Aral awakened the entire universe for her; and even if she knew, she would not comprehend it. For she is still a child — but she is pure enough to awaken a universe.
A child born among the rusty heaps of Arz-ı Harabe, on the Rusty Silk Road, whose genetics have not been contaminated by radiation or cyber-implants. She possesses a 'Zero-Subject' (Tabula Rasa) nature — she can resonate with the frequency of the universe without filters from birth. The symbol of innocence for whom Aral is building a new world, capable of awakening the quantum crystals of the old world. Even in the face of brutality, instead of weeping she carries an eerie, sage serenity that reads the universe.

The Unstained — the quadrant's gift. A child of seven or eight, carrying a turquoise glint in a blind eye. She does not carry her name's meaning on her back; the name is there, the child is there. She does not fear — she recognizes.

Child of the Red Sand, Barlas's foster son. Two children of two planets: one waits on a registry list to be put to sleep, the other hides a forbidden stone in her bloodied palm. Both are the scales of the wars of grown men.
